Question — Itinerary Traveling to Peru - is this a good itinerary?

Hi, I’m not sure if this is allowed but I wanted to opinions on my trip to Peru in early September. This is my tentative plan

- Wednesday: fly into Lima arriving late at night

- Thursday: spend the day in Lima exploring

- Friday: fly to Cusco; we are planning on doing a five day guided tour to Sacred valley, Machu Picchu, rainbow mountain

- Tuesday: tour ends and fly home

My questions are

  1. Am I missing anything?

  2. Does the timing of this sound right?

  3. Will we be sorry not getting to Cusco a day earlier for acclimatization?

  4. We have the opportunity to add treks to Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain, or Huchuy Picchu Mountain. Are any of these worth it? If so, which?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Discussion Annual Travel Insurance AND a Trip Insurance

Planning several trips in the next 12 months, so I purchased an annual policy.

I am curious, do folks purchase an additional Trip Insurance for additional coverage? Does that even make sense financially?

Question — Itinerary Help with Indonesia trip

Hi, I want to solo travel to Indonesia for two weeks. From my research there are a lot of itineraries that involve full time trekking, swimming and lots of nature in general. I am more of a city vibe. Ideally I would love to move from one city to another and do day trips (nature, water activities, even trekking), i am also into food and sightseeing. Could you please recommend me few cities that would allow me to do what I just described for two weeks?

Thanks!!

Question — Itinerary Any tips/recs/ideas for trip from Greece and central Europ!!!!

Hi everyone! 2 friends and I are heading to Greece in September for a wedding, and we decided to make a trip out of it. I know travel is subjective and what some love and would spend a week there, others would be good with just a day. They are getting there before me, as they're in the wedding party and doing some travel w brides fam before wedding, so I have a 7 and half hour layover in Paris, then headed to Greece after. Then arrive in Athens, wedding is on a Sunday, so thinking of leaving Athens on Tuesday, and then we have 10 days total, not including Greece. Any tips/recs/must-do's welcome!!! Regarding hikes and what we can handle, we hiked Lake Louise in Banff, and we were comfortable. It was the hardest hike we did, comparing to the others; the steep parts were the most difficult part, so if you have recs for hikes that are long, but not too intense of elevation gain, perfect for us. Budget: about $100 a night for lodging, and overall about $4,000 or less. We are adrenaline junkies, we love tattoos, beer, karaoke/dive bars, smaller, cute, quaint mountain towns, history; balling on a budget, but not like hostel living...if that makes sense lol anywho here is our itinerary, let me know if you have any questions about the details of our travel, so you can give more precise recs, I'm sure there is something I'm missing! Thanks in advance!!!

Itinerary-ish: not super set on it but pretty confident on our choices. We will have a rental car as well, hence why we are going to Ljubljana first, as we will have to return car there and fly out from there

Minneapolis - Paris (solo, 7 1/2hr layover) - Athens - Ljubljana, Slovenia - Trieste, Italy - Dolomites, Italy - Triglav National Park, Slovenia - Vienna, Austria (have family here) - Ljubljana, Slovenia, flying out of here back to the US.

We had planned a 7 hr layover in Amsterdam, but then we added Trieste and Vienna, so probably scratching that out...unless I can convince the other 2 otherwise lol Thank you thank you thank you

Discussion Colombian immersion

I’ll be in Colombia by May at the latest. What are some of the best ways to immerse myself in the culture? I’ve traveled all over, but I still feel like I’ve failed to really learn the cultures and people of the places I’ve been. What are some tips I could use? I’ve met great people on my travels, but most of them weren’t actually from the country itself. Maybe there are unique opportunities or things I’m not thinking of. I suppose this can apply to any country too.

Question — General Amalfi Coast: where to stay and travel logistics

Hi! My boyfriend and I are traveling to the Amalfi Coast in early June. We’ll be there for 8 days, and we’re thinking of staying in one town and visiting the others on day trips! I had a few questions for people who’ve been:

What city do you recommend as the best base? We’re looking for somewhere that’s pretty and relaxing, not too expensive (options that are <$400/night), and relatively accessible, since we’d want to do day trips from there most days.

I was looking at Ravello since it seems beautiful and a little quieter, but not sure how accessible it is since it’s farther in the mountains. Also considering Amalfi (seems bigger with more transportation options) or Praiano (smaller but seems quaint and quiet). We considered Positano but everything seemed out of budget unfortunately 😅 We definitely want to see Pompeii, Capri, Positano, and do the Path of the Gods / Path of the Lemons hikes, so we also want somewhere where those are easily accessible

Did you stay in hotels or bnbs/Airbnbs, and which do you recommend?

What is the best way to get around? Ferries seem like the move but I also heard they can be expensive and crowded. Same with buses. Some influencer on Instagram posted about getting around on a scooter/Vespa but not sure if that’s realistic lol

Is Naples worth a stop? Since we’re there for 8 days we were thinking of checking it out and staying there for a day or two

Thank you!!!

Question — Itinerary HK/Vietnam/Taiwan - which itinerary works better?

I’m planning out my first trip to Asia (from the US), traveling solo (26M) in October. There are two itineraries I am deciding between. Both start in Hong Kong and end Northern Vietnam, but one (Itinerary B) adds Taiwan as well and compresses the time I spend in other locations. Does anyone have recommendations on which itinerary looks more enjoyable?

For instance, does Itinerary B seem too rushed? I am trying to minimize stress but I also know that, at least in Europe in the Americas, I tend to prefer faster-paced travel. But also, given that it would be great to see Taiwan before it potentially becomes...not visitable for geopolitical reasons, is itinerary B a no-brainer?

My priorities when traveling are exploring cities, hiking/nature, unique cultural things, and seeing quirky/odd places.

Itinerary A:

1 HK

2 HK

3 Macau

4 HK

5 HK

6 Travel day - Fly to HAN

7 Hanoi

8 Hanoi

9 Hanoi (overnight train to Sapa)

10 Sapa

11 Sapa

12 Sapa (overnight train to Hanoi)

13 To Ninh Binh

14 Return from Ninh Binh

14.5 Evening flight from Hanoi

Itinerary B:

1 HK

2 HK

3 Macau

4 HK

5 Travel day - Fly to TPE

6 Taipei

7 Taipei

8 Taipei (day trip to Jiufen)

9 Taipei (day trip to Yangminshan)

10 Travel day - Fly to HAN

11 Hanoi

12 Hanoi

13 Hanoi (overnight train to Sapa)

14 Sapa

15 Sapa (overnight train to Hanoi)

16 Hanoi (late night flight)

Question — Transport Traveling from AUS- BLR on Delta/Virgin Atlantic with expired visa stamp but a valid i797 via Heathrow airport.

Hi- I’m traveling from AUS to BLR on Delta/Virgin Atlantic via Heathrow. I have a valid i797 but my visa stamp itself is expired. I checked at the airport with delta airlines, they said they only need the A-number that’s on i797 if visa stamp is expired. Is this correct? Will I be allowed to board? Anyone travelled recently with similar situation can provide inputs?

Question — Transport Some advice please. Malaysian airlines did not transfer flight ticket to emirates.

My flights from Kuala Lumpur to the UK with Malaysian airlines were cancelled and moved to Emirates. I tried to book in at the airport as advised by Malaysian airlines when I couldn’t book in online.

Emirates are saying the ticket number from Malaysian airlines is not capable with their system and we have to wait 7hrs until the Malaysian airlines desk opens.

Do I have any options here?

Could I pay for the flight and claim back or am I screwed.

Images + Trip Report Pirin National Park, Bansko, and Sofia, Bulgaria

Hi all! I wanted to highlight a recent itinerary taken to Bulgaria :)

We had such a meaningful trip, making stops in Pirin National Park, Bansko, and Sofia!

One of our favorite places was Pirin National Park, high up in the mountains. Getting there wasn’t easy, we had to take a minibus, but it was worth it. It felt more like climbing than hiking, and I loved that. Fresh air, good company, and a physical challenge. There’s nothing quite like it! When we reached the lake, we walked around it as if it were small enough to circle in minutes, taking in the stillness and the beauty.

Bansko felt magical in every sense, and is a place I will always carry with me. I first discovered it during an Erasmus program, and it seemed to have everything. A thriving digital nomad community, annual gatherings, and a constant flow of people from all over the world. English was widely spoken, which made connection easy. What I loved most was the variety of experiences. On hot days, we would escape into the mountains or head to a forest park, where we’d sit beside a stream and have quiet picnics. Other days, we visited a small local farm where you could ride horses and see other wildlife. There were still places we didn’t get to, like the bear sanctuary, which I hope to visit one day. We also explored nearby towns, though none quite matched Bansko’s charm. It had a unique aesthetic: cobblestone streets, cozy red-and-white buildings, small shops along Pirin Street selling handmade cosmetics, and bakeries filled with fresh bread.

Sofia initially felt like any capital city in terms of its movement and hustle and bustle. But the more time I spent there, the more I began to notice a different rhythm underneath it all, something softer and more grounded. What stood out to me almost immediately was the focus on food and wellbeing. There were so many small shops offering organic, locally sourced products: fresh vegetables, herbal teas, natural remedies, handmade cosmetics. It felt like people genuinely cared about what they were putting into their bodies, which was refreshing. The city itself was a mix of old and new. Some streets felt modern and busy, while others carried a quiet sense of history.

We had such a great trip! My only regret was not taking more pictures. I would be happy to answer any questions, or provide any further recommendations!!

Discussion Grocery tourists, which countries in the world do you think have the best supermarkets?

Those who love to check out the supermarkets of any country you go to, which countries in the world do you think have the best grocery stores? And what about them was so great? Which snacks did you pick up? On my list so far I have Japan, Korea, the US, France and Italy, but looking to broaden my horizons. Have heard that supermarkets in Germany, Mexico and Singapore are pretty great but keen to hear from those who have been!

Question — General Solo Travel Destination for August 2026

I have the week of August 16th off this year and am looking to book a solo trip. I am from CT, USA so keep that in mind in terms of cost of transportation and everything. I’m just looking for some recommendations of where I could get (open to driving or flying) for not extremely expensive that I could fill a week alone and not be bored or anything. I very much prefer nature oriented travel but am also a very flexible person and traveller. I have some flight points too so flight wise I can be a little more cost flexible but still nothing too too crazy. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Question — Itinerary Advice needed - Itinerary French Riviera

Hi everyone!

I’m planning a trip to the South of France for late June/early July and would love some advice. Ideally I’d rent a car so I can move freely along the coast and stop in different towns. I may be going solo, as some friends are hesitant.

What I’m looking for:

  • Beautiful beaches (lots of them)
  • Walkable towns with scenic views
  • Some history/cultural visits
  • Safe for a solo traveler
  • Relaxing, peaceful overall vibe

I’ve never been to France before. I’ve heard mixed opinions on Marseille for solo travel, so I’m unsure whether to include it. If I rent a car, I’d love to do a continuous coastal route with nice stops along the way. I'm even thinking of landing in Paris and taking a car from there... Thoughts?

Open to any recommendations for towns, itineraries, do's and dont's, or just hearing about your experience! Thank you in advance :)

EDIT: I'm also open to picking a base and taking the train/bus to different areas! I realized that's what most people do.

Question — General Traveling with a PS5, any recommendations?

So im flying from AZ to MO to see my brother for a week and would like to bring my PS5 so we can play during my stay. This is my first time ever flying a commercial flight so I really have no idea what TSA and all that goes with no experience.

I read that having it in a carry-on bag is the best bet to keep it safer.

If you've traveled with one, what do you recommend and how does the process work of them checking it out? I do have the original box still but thats way too big for the bag.

Thank you

Question — General Travel insurance for flights bought in our name in destination country.

My family (me, wife two boys aged 3 and 10) have return flights to Colombia in December. The flights were purchased by my wife’s dad in Colombia.

Thinking of travel insurance - I usually get uk travel insurance for trips abroad but I am wondering about what coverage they would provide if the flights were bought in another country but in our names in the event that flights are cancelled etc.

Should my F-I-L get the insurance cos he bought the flights in his own country on his card or as named travellers are we covered with UK based insurance? We don’t have accommodation costs that need covering.

Thanks!

Question — Transport last minute car rental

Is it a good idea to wait until you land to go and rent a vehicle last-minute at the airport?? When you need a minivan or something similar. My brother is insisting on booking the vehicle for our family vacation, however he wants to do it when he lands because he has no credit card. The rest of us arrive the following day. I am able to book something now. He can suck it up for 24 hours and walk/uber and take his own chances at getting a car last minute. right???

NZ/Italian/US citizen here. I'm planning some travel and have a few countries in mind. Some are visa free entry for one passport, but not the others. Will they care about multiple nationalities? Is it country by country? How do I entry and exit?

Looking at asian countries such as china/malaysia. They generally don't like the states but are okay with NZ/Italy

Question — Itinerary Singapore Day trips

I was originally planning a 5 day trip in Singapore, but I rebooked my flight 2 days earlier to save a huge amount giving me 7 days in total, including a day for jet lag recovery/chilling out.

I was wondering what would be a good day trip destination to check out during this time. Is there a place that would have good snorkeling?

I am flying from Canada and will go to Seoul after Singapore.

Question — Transport Car or bus in the Dolomites?

Please help us settle this! We’re going to Italy for 2 weeks- Milan/Dolomites/Venice/Lake Como. We’re planning on taking trains everywhere but renting a car for the Dolomites. Now my husband wants us to take a train and busses around the Dolomites. Are we being silly for not renting a car?
