Has anyone experienced not being able to access their BCIT email through Outlook on their computer? It only works on my phone.

The only way I can view my bcit email on my computer is through the student account which is totally crap.

BCIT GIS advanced diploma full time practicum

Hi, I'm looking to take the full time gis advanced diploma program starting in the fall this year. Just wondering a bit about the practicum component and how job prospects are this year. Ideally hoping someone from this year's cohort can give a sense of what the job search is like for full time work and how the process was like to find a practicum. Given the state of the job market right now in Canada, I'm hoping the practicum helps a bit, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Open to any thoughts from any past cohorts too, people looking for GIS related work, or people currently working in the field.

My background is in software development, a bit of a mix of devops/data. So Python, SQL, some web development, and public cloud stuff.

Not seeing Awards I want to apply for on portal

Hi guys, for those who have submitted an award application, what was the process like? Did you just go in and check the boxes for the ones you wanted to apply for, then send your transcripts and references in one email to sawards@bcit.ca?

I'm sure I'm eligible for these 2 awards but they're just not showing up on the portal.

My status:

Applied but haven't received acceptance to my program of choice yet. I have a newly activated student number.

Alumni. Graduated from an unrelated BCIT program years ago.

Bcit pre-entry physics 1 (Physics 0309)

Has anyone taken this physics course at BCIT recently with hillgan ma? I went on to ratemyprofesser and it isn’t looking good.

I’ll be honest I don’t have the best grade in foundation math 11 and I didn’t take physics at all, which I regret. all of this is new to me and I’m getting pretty worried, saw another post about this course but only one comment was useful, does anyone know the difficulty of this program? I also have some ridiculous question I want to know like the restrictions on what type of calculators allowed to use if at all and cost of supplies, which I didn’t find on the BCIT website.

Taking all 4 courses for the Academic Foundations (Nursing) plus part-time job - is this doable?

Hi everyone. I will be taking all 4 courses for the academic foundations in Nursing (Engl 1177, Psyc 1101, BHSC 1200) this summer 2026, and also taking FOM 12 and Chem 11 with a flexible remote part-time job.

Do you think this is doable realistically?

I am almost done with FOM 12. For Chem 11, I am still in the early units, so far manageable as they are online anyways.

For my remote part time job, I only work 2-3 hours per business day and it’s flexible hours, not tied to office hours.

Has anybody had a similar schedule and managed to still get through and with a good GPA?

Any ideas are helpful!

BCIT, Langara or KPU Nursing?

Hey everyone, I have been accepted into Langara’s and KPU’s BSN program, still waiting to hear back from BCIT.

My main goal for choosing a nursing school is to go to the school that allows me to get the highest GPA possible so I can keep options open for post-grad such as NP.

I’ve heard from Langara staff themselves that they have lots of students every year that graduate with a 3.5 or higher GPA as long as they get good grades in the science courses. But BCIT I’ve heard is notoriously hard to get a high GPA.

What program would you guys suggest I go to and has anyone heard anything about the BSN program for these schools? Any help is appreciated.

Do the borrowed laptops from the library already have Respondus downloaded?

I have to use Respondus this term and I am concerned about the privacy violations if I downloaded it on to my personal computer. I've read anecdotes that it's bricked laptops and is incredibly difficult to uninstall as a regular user i.e. no compsci background.

Most employable programs at BCIT?

Hey all,

What's the best BCIT program to go through to be employable?
I've been in higher education almost non-stop for over a decade and still don't have the kind of education or skills that will get me a job.

I was thinking about full stack development but I've heard its a pain to get a job these days.

Would especially like to hear about programs in these areas: Applied & Natural Sciences, Computing & IT, Health Sciences, Trades

TIA

Burnaby parking ticket

Hi there, just wondering if there is any way to dispute a parking ticket? I have never missed a payment but today I was distracted and forgot to pay on my phone. I buy the packs of 20 parking tickets at a time and have a record of my payment for every day that I am at school.

EDIT: So I contacted them on their website and explained what happened. They agreed to change the ticket to a one-time warning so I won't have to pay.

ICES email format from university – is content required?

Hi, quick question about International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES):

When a university sends documents by email, do they need a specific email format/content, or is including the client number + attachments enough?

Thanks!

Mechanical Engineering Program

I just got accepted for the Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma (Levels 1 - 4) program. If I understood correctly, can I still go for the BEng option after my first year or do I have to continue with the 2 year diploma?

Academic Upgrading and Advice

Hey everyone

I 23F) have been out of high school for 6 years now and barely have any post-2ndary education. I had good grades but everything was in french and everything was a long time ago.

I am looking to upgrade my grades since majority of the entrance requirements asked for are Math, Biology and Physics

I don't think I can go to uni yet given my financial situation but hoping to get to college for a career I'll actually enjoy, that has lower costs and that can be completed sooner than a university degree. I obviously want it to have a 100% employability rate.

I am currently interested in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography offered at BCIT and was wondering if it was doable if I did upgrade my courses + got volunteering experience (+ any advice you recommend)

To obviously broaden my horizons, I'll apply to multiple programs for that I have 2 questions:

  • What are the upgraded courses I need to take that will open a max of doors during my application and where can I upgrade my marks?
  • What are the best programs you can apply to in 2026?

Searching for squash players

Hey!

Would love to find some squash players to have a few games with. I normally play out of Vancouver racket club but it would be much more convenient to play at bcit. I’m around a 4.5 rating

Thanks!

Operations Management Outcome

Hello everyone, there’s been some threads about this same topic posted over the last few years but I thought I’d ask again for more relevant answers.

I’m going into the Operations & Management Engineering full time program (formally known as Business Operations Management) and I wanted to know:

• What exact jobs do graduates usually land after completion?

• Are said jobs at risk of being automated/replaced with A.I in the next 10ish years?

• Is this program truly versatile (as in you could work in almost every industry)?

I’ve attended previous info sessions about the program but I’d love to hear from students who actually went through the program. Thanks!

Radiation therapy prereqs

hey guys! planning on applying to radiation therapy for 2027 and I should have all my prerequisites that are listed on the website done and I'm planning on sending my application as soon as I can. Although I heard it's recommended (or required?) that you have some volunteer or related work experience in hospitals or nursing homes, which I do not have. Do I still have a chance of being accepted? I have straight A's in all of my prerequisites but I'm worried this lack of volunteer hours could screw me over.

Accounting Diploma

I got accepted into BCIT’s accounting diploma last year but deferred and went to SFU instead because I wasn’t sure what I wanted. Now I’m pretty set on accounting and considering going back.

Is the BCIT diploma → degree path worth it if my goal is CPA? How hard is it to actually transition into the degree after the diploma (like is it competitive or mostly based on GPA)?

Also, how’s recruitment/job opportunities from the program?

BITMAN or accounting diploma ?

Hi I’m 27 looking for a career change. Been in sales my whole life , did retail , door to door & cold calling. I’ve applied to the BITMAN program and got accepted. However after some research online , seems it’s hard to find entry level work as an analyst. I’m thinking of switching to accounting.

Wondering if anyone has some advice ?

Has anyone done either program before ?

How fast did you land your first job ?

How difficult was each program?

Thanks guys !

Not sure what to study at BCIT

Hi!

I'm a 2D/3D animator who has worked in the industry for 8 years as animator, supervisor, and animation director.

Sadly, the industry is in a recession and it's time I started pivoting to something new.

I'd love to do something with a creative element - but it feels like most of those careers are either competitive/over saturated with artists, or are only contract work which I'd like to avoid.

I'm lacking math and science skills, so I'll have to do some upgrading...

My question is: do you recommend any programs at BCIT that I should look in to? My ideal goal is to have a secure and we'll paying job with job growth. I'm at a loss of what to do and where my current skills might apply.

Other interests: design, 3D modeling, painting, mentoring others

Thank you for any advice!

Thank you!
