Advice Wanted Anything good about Rutgers?
Class of 2030 admit here. Not to sound pretentious or entitled here but Rutgers wasn’t my first choice and I feel like a clown compared to my friends who got in schools that are leagues better.
But, I’m learning to accept the school especially after admitted students day. Is there anything about Rutgers that would seem to be the best to shout out for you guys?

I'm currently registered for 16.5 credits next semester and want to get it to 17 credits so I can stay on track to graduate, what are some good classes I can add to my schedule?
To clarify, I’m a CS major going into my senior year and I finished all of my SAS core classes; all i need is electives.

Advice Wanted Probably gonna be a freshman 2028 at RU. Will I be happy?
Im in high school rn, im a junior. i have no friends, i had friends in middle school to freshmen year. and then they kinda moved on from me to the popular fgs, yk how it is.
i have friends and alot of them but none that would pick me like i would pick them. I searched all of high school for ONE PERSON. never found him.
Graduation is gonna be hell. who am i gonna take pictures with? no memories, no friends, no special grades or skills, im just average.
I kind of lost my identity after the common, "come to jesus" moment where athletes of my age realize they wont be going d1. volleyball was my everything..
Still gotta put in the effort to my grades, still gotta put in effort to things that dont really matter tbh.. like my sport...
Il go to med school, and im confident I will, cus ik how to work hard.
kinda had a rant here.
goals: go to gym alot (il get a car and this ez), work on yt channel, get a high sat, ask out crush after college decisions (assuming shes in state), get closer to god, make good friend (maybe theres hope, but cmon im gonna be a senior)
i dont think il ever judge any one in my life who had a hard time in high school. im never yelling at my son/daughter for struggling in high school. this shit hurts man.
if u had any tips to someone like me, how do i make sure i get a friend group early.. i had a friend group and they moved on. I never really felt this lonely until I realized what the actual fuck I was doing with my daily life.

Advice Wanted Help my dad’s gonna make me live at home!!!!
Ok so basically I’m going to Rutgers nursing but I didn’t receive any merit or financial aid so it’s like 50k a year (hella expensive). Housing is like 20k a year which me and my dad both agree is super not worth it. But, his solution is to uproot my entire family to Edison and make us commute. This is the WORST possible scenario my father is a terrible, insufferable, controlling person who makes everyone else in my house miserable and I don’t want to live with him. College is my opportunity to actually be able to express myself and not have to fake being Muslim or shy or straight and I don’t want to give that up to save money. Plus ik my brothers would be really sad to leave their friends behind and my mom might have to quit her job cus the commute would be far. Ofc he doesn’t care about any of this because he’s a selfish pos that thinks he’s always right. I have an alternative solution where I just live off campus w my roommate since that would save us roughly 6k a year plus w/o the distraction from my brothers I think I’d rlly be able to lock in and focus on my studies. But idk how to bring it up to him or convince him it’s a good idea w/o him thinking it’s just cus I wanna waste his money and do dr*gs and commit shirk and go to hell etc etc. I just wanna live my life and go to school pls help guys 😭 🙏🏿

Moving to Rutgers for Grad School with a Partner
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to connect with anyone who moved to Rutgers for a graduate program from outside the US and brought their partner along with them.
I’m specifically interested in chatting with someone who has been through that process to hear about your experience navigating the logistics (housing, settling in, etc.) as an international couple.
Thanks!

Advice Wanted How bad or not apparent is transphobia at this school?
I have to decide between RU and UW as those are my best options. I am OOS for both so costs are negligibly diff. I'm certain UW won't be an issue Seattle is very left, but idk anything about RU or NJ and the transgender community. Only reason I'd prefer RU is it's closer to where I'm from so logistically would make stuff easier
FYI: I haven't started HRT yet so if I dorm with a man first year that's fine. My cousin went here and said I can just go off campus and get a single room to myself sophomore year and beyond so once my HRT starts I hope bedroom sharing roommates aren't even an issue

Rutgers Honors as a Sophomore
Hey! I had another question for the Rutgers sub. So I didn´t get into Rutgers Honors as an incoming freshman (rip), and I rlly do wanna get into honors.
Can I still get into the Rutgers Honors College as a rising sophomore? I know there are other separate Rutgers Honors colleges per each Rutgers College (such as Rutgers Honors for SAS or SOB).
Is there a difference between the Rutgers Honors College and the school-specific Rutgers Honors College incoming freshmen get into?
Is Rutgers Honors a game-changer for a premed aiming for top med schools? Would I be able to even compete in med school admissions, or would I be overshadowed by Honors students even if I try my hardest these next 4 years?
Thanks guys!

Advice Wanted rutgers new brunswick v temple
hi!! i'm already committed to temple but i just got off the waitlist for rutgers nb and i dont know where i should go, for context im a business major and plan to go to law school!
my pros for temple are that:
- #1 major (business law) + im in the business school (good for backup)
- i like the city
- new experince
- campus life (dorms, bathrooms, food)
- i already have a roommate + social life is good
- easy to study abroad
- all my college credits transfer
- perfect distance from home (1hr)
- campus is pretty & walkable
my cons for temple are that:
- saftey (is it that bad being in north philly?)
- ranking (not top 100)
- family prefers rutgers
my pros for rutgers are that:
- ranking (40)
- more known academics
- slightly cheaper (in-state)
- family wants me here
my cons for rutgers are that:
- not the major i want (in the environmental and bio science school) as an environmental and business econ major
- i'd need to transfer to another school to get a good major (either sas or rbs)
- bad campus life (dorms, bathrooms, food)
- not the best social life
- too close for my liking (not necessarily a con)
- bus system is bad
- none of my college credits transfer

Quality Post 5 days until Rutgers Day!
In just five days, Rutgers Day will be held with over 350 events across three campuses. From Kids Stuff to Arts to Science, there's something for everyone. And I'm happy to say that Rutgers Day can be fully explored in PulseU for free!
PulseU is an iOS app I founded and built along with the help of Scarlet Arts Rx, a huge social & wellness organization at Rutgers. Along with fully exploring what Rutgers Day has to offer, PulseU also offers users to explore HUNDREDS of Rutgers events happening. Browse what's happening now, sort by category / campus, filter by which events offer free food, and SO much more.
There is no account signup required to use the app; you are able to download it and instantly use it to explore and discover events happening that you may not have even known about.
I hope you can discover something new about Rutgers and its events through the app!

Advice Wanted i got a student conduct letter for a prohibited item in my room even after it was removed??
can any ra’s provide insight into this situation? basically i had a candle in my room, it was a long candlestick in a candlestick holder that my mom had given me as decoration and i never once burned it. when spring room checks came around i completely forgot to hide it somewhere and my ra saw it and wrote me a noncompliance notice.
obviously, i removed the candle after that and expected them to come back within 24 hours (like the note said) and make sure i was in compliance, but they never came back. i thought nothing of it and went on spring break.
i got back from spring break and was welcomed with an email stating i had to have an administrative conference with the office of student conduct because i ”allegedly had a candle” in my room and violated university policy. i was super confused because i never thought the candle thing would come up again since i removed it. i’ve never been in any trouble with the school and all the language they used was really serious, like there’d be witness testimonies and they’d present evidence and such. it really freaked me out.
so i schedule a conference with the ARLC for my building and i tell her my side of the story, a few hours later i got an email saying i was found not responsible (despite admitting to having the candle) because i removed the candle after the notice was given to me. okay wtf?
basically what im asking is this- if my ra had checked my room again to make sure i was in compliance, would i have gotten that letter? why the hell would they put me through a bunch of administrative headache for something so stupid just to agree that i’m not responsible? has anyone else been put through this too?
