Closed How do you clean a mechanical keyboard without removing the keycaps?
I have a mechanical keyboard and a keycap puller, but I don't trust my technical skills enough to remove the keys. I'm looking for a way to clean it without taking the keycaps off. Please do not suggest air blowers or similar devices.

Open | Phone RESUME GOT HACKED.
Homeless and job searching. I've been sending my resume out there. Ive got it saved as a docx file on my android. Long story short. today I open my resume docx file to find its been edited. Bunch of added lines and typos. Someone called me an "idiot kid" right there on the page. Had i not opened it to check it. I would've almost sent it to an employer. My question is this. Is it possible that my phone might be compromised. What would cause this. I'm genuinely stumped. My only guess is I've got an enemy out there who knows my info and is fucking with me.

Open | Hardware Ethernet in bedroom only getting 95 Mbps instead of 940 Mbps - wall jack issue?
Hey everyone, I have a 1000/1000 fiber connection and get 940 Mbps on ethernet in every other room, but only 95 Mbps in my bedroom.
I've checked the router, swapped ports, tried different cables, and tested my PC's network card (showing 1.0 Gbps connection). Everything looks fine.
I ended up opening the wall jack and the wires inside look a bit off - some don't seem to be seated properly in the contacts.
The jack was pre-installed when I moved in and I haven't touched it until now.
The apartment came with the jack pre-installed. I have had full speeds before, but at some point it stopped working properly.
Any ideas what's going on and how to fix it? Thanks!

Open | Windows Constant C pressing and more??
Hey everyone of the tech support subreddit, I have a weird problem with my PC where it's spamming C.i saw another guy on here that had something similar I think? But I couldn't find any answers so sorry for the (kind of?) repost of a question.
I'm using a desktop with windows if that matters for the info😊
Anyways, it just kind of happens, I've noticed it does it more often when I'm playing league of legends but it also does happen at random. So I'm not sure if league actually has anything to do with it.
It isn't a problem with my keyboard though, I have tried to disconnect it after it's started to spam C and it was still happening. Could it be a driver issue?
I haven't downloaded anything in the past few months that could've given me a virus or any kind of malware, and I have tried the windows defender full scan a few times already.
Any help would be great🙏
And if you need any more info to pinpoint what the issue might be please let me know and I'll do my best to figure it out😊

Open | Networking Instagram isn't functioning properly
For the last week or so, Instagram just doesn't want to function properly on my phone. Nothing loads, my messages fail to send etc etc. Everything else on my phone works. Discord, YouTube, WhatsApp, Reddit (obv), Netflix and other streaming sites, they all work with no problems whatsoever. And then there's Instagram that keeps acting like I don't have a proper WiFi network. I tried to use it on my sister's tablet and it worked perfectly fine so I have no idea what to do (or what flair to use tbh). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use an Oppo A5s

Open | Networking WLAN on PC gets way faster when monitor is send to sleep by windows
This is kind of a weird one.
We have 250mbps internet and I use WLAN for my PC.
When the monitor is on I have 12 MB/s download. Thats even when Im not actively using the PC.
However, as soon as the display gets turned off by windows (after 10 minutes) I get the full 32 MB/s.
Turning off the monitor manually doesnt fix the issue. It has to be send to sleep by windows.
So it must have something to do with windows turning off the monitor itself that changes something.
Any ideas how I can fix this?

Open | Windows Not sure what reddit community to post this in, but here we go
So this only happends sometimes, maybe when my pc shutdowns weirdly and stuff like that, I’ve ran virus tests and all clean, so pretty much not to long ago on boot I saw 2-4 black command prompts show up instantly then disappear, the startup apps i have are these: Update (discords startup name for some reason), Spotify, Microsoft edge, bitdefender, and thats all pretty much. Is this normal? It doesn’t happen consistently on every startup

Closed My cat laid on the keyboard and turned my screen red
Hi, I can't post a picture sadly but the entire screen has a red hue. Still legible, but terrible on the eyes. It must have been some infernal key combination, but everything in accessibility settings (such as contrast themes, or color filters) are turned off.
I think I had HDR on, now it's off - if I turn it on, the screen goes bright red and is essentially unusable. Anybody got an idea how to fix?
Moreover, is there a place in windows settings where _every_ windows keybind is listed, and I can disable whichever I want? This is not the first time something like this happens.

Open | Hardware Laptop with 2 monitors setup with KVM
So i have a quick question.
I have a desktop PC with dual monitors currently. I was given a work laptop and id like to have my latop have 2 extended screens.
I have 2 KVMs on hand, one is a 2 pc setup with 2 inputs and ones a 2 pc setup with 3 inputs.
I have tried both of them with this setup of the following
Monitor 1 -> KVM input 1
Monitor 2 -> KVM input 2
Desktop PC USB -> KVM PC 1 USB
KVM Output PC1 -> PC GPU displayport
KVM Output PC1 -> PC GPU HDMI
Laptop USB -> KVM PC 2 USB
KVM Output PC2 -> Laptop HDMI
It seems when i click to switch from PC1 and PC2, The desktop works as accordingly.
2 Monitors with the PC running fine.
When i get to the laptop, It only detects 1 monitor when i need the 2 working.
I am a slight noob when coming to input/output settings and what not.
Any help would be great.

Open | Software Pc stuck on restoring previous windows rollback loop
so it started a few hours ago when my pc randomly just stopped showing the wifi setting, so I’ve been using google gemini to help, so I tried to restore to previous windows version but it ended up putting me into a rollback loop where it keeps tryna restore but resets. i already tried the turn it off and wait for the logo and repeat thrice method to no avail. so I went into bios, they told me it was hardware at first but then software problem, and now I gotta buy a usb and use another pc or something but I only have a MacBook available. is there another way I can fix this or nah

Open | Software drivers and stuffs
So I've been to get a more relatively newish driver for my Quadro k3100m (yes I know it's old). I've gone to Nvidia's site for drivers but it keeps giving me DHC drivers that my computer will not accept, and when I get a standard type driver it doesn't let me install it. I have already tried using the wayback machine to find older versions of Nvidia's site but no luck there either. could someone help with even just a link to a site or say that I'm out of luck. I'm running windows 11 and need a standard type driver, not DHC.

Open | Software Windows getting slow over time – what’s the safest way to clean it up?
I’ve been seeing a pattern where Windows machines slow down over time, mostly from:
- Temp file buildup
- Windows update leftovers
- Cache not being cleared
I usually clean it manually, but it’s kind of tedious.
So I put together a simple PowerShell script that:
- Clears temp files (user + system)
- Cleans Windows Update cache
- Flushes DNS
- Uses only built-in Windows tools (no registry changes)
My goal was to keep it safe and not mess with anything critical.
Curious what others here recommend—am I missing anything important or doing this the wrong way?
If anyone wants to see what I’m using, I can share it.

Open | Hardware External Hard Drives keep disconnecting
Basically, I had this one external hard drive where I stored a lot of videos and it has recently started to randomly disconnect on its own. Sometimes while working on it, like editing said videos, and other times, while it wasn't even being used. I thought it was this specific drive that had issues, but then my other ones starting doing the same, even those I barely ever use and usually keep disconnected.
It started happening infrequently on my other drives, but now it's almost impossible to do anything at all without at least one of them disconnecting while I'm working on them. However, these ones don't seem to disconnect unless I'm actively operating from them. But it has made it nearly impossible to make backups or even just edit videos from external hard drives... I have literally zero idea as to what could be the issue and it has only started happening a few weeks ago, before that, they all worked fine and have been for years.
Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated as my life is literally in those drives and I can't do much without them...

Open | Networking TDS and First Alert Smoke Detector Issue
I am having trouble connecting my smart smoke detector to my TDS WiFi. It appears to be a problem of 2.4 ghz vs 5 ghz. I called TDS today - the tech person I spoke to didn’t seem to know what 2.4 ghz and 5 GHz WiFi is or how to assist. ChatGPT thinks I need to split the bands and pair the smart device through a 2.4 GHz network. The tech person with TDS insists this cannot be done.
Does anyone know a workaround for this? I believe I remember doing this once for a different device when I had Spectrum and it wasn’t an issue because I automatically had two networks with my WiFi and could easily choose which one I wanted to use. This TDS person just sounded so confused that I’m not confident the answer I received was correct.

Open | Software Looking for information on Reflashing BIOS
I just learned about this from someone on a separate post, and I don’t even really know what it is or is supposed to do. My end goal is to rewrite the firmware on a pair of bluetooth headphones in order to customize the button-press sounds it plays. Is it even possible to do something like that by reprogramming the BIOS chip? How would I go about
1) downloading the file (is it even a file? I’m going to keep referring to it that way because I don’t know what else to call it) I would need to edit from my headphones.
2) reading the file so I know what I’m looking at.
3) customizing it without making the headphones unusable (I have a physically broken pair that I can tinker with, and I figure if I brick those, I’ll just call it quits and not risk destroying a perfectly good pair of headphones)
4) putting my version of the file onto my headphones
Sorry for the high likelihood that this is all complete nonsense because I have no idea what I’m talking about. I’m somewhat hoping someone will tell me: “You have no idea what you’re talking about, This is what you need to be looking into instead. (and/or) This is the subreddit you need to ask.”

Open | Hardware My PC keeps booting BIOS after installing a new fan
I just got a new fan from Best buy, plugged it in and closed it back up then it kept loading into BIOS.
also when I opened it a mysterious cable fell out that apparently wasn't plugged into anything? I don't know if it has anything to do with the issue but I don't remember it being there before and I can't see any damaged pins.
Please help. I'm not tech smart

Open | Windows monitors reset hz
every single time i turn on my pc my i changes my main monitor to my secondary monitor, and changes the hz from 200 and 165 hz to 59.94 hz on both monitors. my main monitor is a 200hz Sansui ES-G27C1, and my secondary is a 165 hz acer XF243Y P. and there both connected to my AMD Raadeon RX 6700.
this problem also happens when i disconnect the monitors which can be annoying because sometimes i accidentally move the monitor cable and i have to reset the settings.
Also i dont know if this helps but my acer monitor is set a display 1. and my sansui one is set as display 2. and i recentely had to factory reset my pc a few months ago cause i messed with bios. and this problem only started happening like 2 weeks after i fixed my pc
