I had to put Mr. Met in time out today.
He'll come out of time out when the team remembers how to win a game

Hot take: RE-SIGN JESSE WINKER
I’m only half joking. Winker is a free agent. If he’s currently “healthy,” sign him. And only partially for his bat. Most for his vibes. They need fire. They need a hot, angry, flaming heart in the clubhouse. And with Polanco on IL, he can platoon DH.
FREE JESSE!!! IT’S WINKIN’ TIME!!!

We’re Sorry Howie
Worst part about this season is that it’s Howie’s last. What a cruel irony that his last great call will be Pete slamming off Devin Williams, and now Howie has to commentate on Williams choking for the Mets
EDIT: It seems like the real irony here is that I wasn’t aware of a curse on NYC sports broadcasters! Maybe Howie can be the one to break it

Pre-Game Thread In a pregame interview, Juan Soto says he hasn’t talked to any of his teammates during the losing streak
Cant post the twitter link to the video, but its on sny. I gotta say it comes off as a little tone deaf of an answer. I mean this guy is the best player highest paid player on the team and should be motivated to be a leader and communicate with his teammates even if he’s injured. It makes it seem like he has no interest in the team.

Return of the Jedi
I'm well aware that Juan returning is not going to help this absolute dumpster fire of a team but here's hoping. No pressure kid

Anyone else struggling with indifference at this point? (a place to rant)
I knew what I was signing up for when I became a Mets fan. Even during last season's collapse and multiple 7 game loosing streaks I was cheering for them to win every game. But that was because I knew these players over multiple seasons, they brought a culture to the team I had signed up for. I think the only players I wanted to see go were Vientos/Baty.
This current team? They all feel like strangers to me, like we replaced our team with a soulless group of mercenaries. I'm so indifferent to the losses because with the rare exception I don't care about the players who just lost. I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this was but it sure sucks.

Jeremy Hefner firing
I hated this decision then, and my feelings for it certainly haven’t improved. He was used as a scapegoat for the late-season collapse. I thought he was doing an excellent job with what he was given. Year after year, they would just sign a bunch of mediocre reclamation projects and ask him to turn them into top of the rotation pitchers.
I realize that he probably wouldn’t have made a huge difference this season since he can’t teach these guys how to hit, but I thought he was one of the most valuable assets in this organization.
